When I was a young boy I had a connection with the heavens. In fact every time me and my dad would go upstairs for bed, I would look out the huge window in the front of our house, and say "Look dad! The moon!" and wouldn't stop until I made sure he saw it. Sometimes I would sit in the car looking up at the sky wondering why the moon appeared to be "following our car." In school, I remember watching the Apollo 11 moon landing as part of my history class, and learning about our Solar System for the first time. I was completely blown away in wonder. We did projects on the planets, read books on them, and I loved coming to school to learn more about our Solar System. As I grew older I hung on the hobby of learning about the universe.
There are whole other worlds out there just waiting to be explored! Every question I asked led to another question and I wanted all the answers. The root of wonder and love for the Universe had been growing in me at the young age of 8.
Just imagine walking on another planet, or finding out that there could be life somewhere else in our Universe!!!
One night, I took a moment to just sit back, relax and enjoy the night sky, with the moon in sight just like it used to be when I was a young boy. It hit me. I was looking up into the Universe. The infinitely vast universe. We are so lucky to be a part of something so large and incredibly beautiful!!!
